The craftiest of foxes were back at the Dogstar this weekend, so of course I went along to see their latest treasures.
One of the nice things about Crafty Fox is that quite a few of the sellers are regular. It makes it so much more special when you can meet the person who’s made a Lovely Thing, and even more so when you can see their work develop.
So I wasn’t able to make Crafty Fox Peckham in the end (we made a last-minute trip to Cambridge to go blackberrying with Ted’s lovely parents) but here are my top picks from the Peckham event traders on the Crafty Fox site. There were some lovely things.
Lee May Foster-Wilson has been creating lovely things from her studio in Cornwall for some time – she was one of the first new-wave British designers that came to my attention some years back.
Her work is centred on whimsical illustrations of horses, cottages, moons and stars. It’s naïve, but not childish – it resonates with me because I grew up in the countryside, but there’s an edge to it that works in the city.
Her new, limited-edition collection, Indian Summer, celebrates the last, late golden days of the year before winter sets in. Take a look:
Yep, it’s that time already – Crafty Fox came to the Dogstar in Brixton a little earlier than usual this year. I went along on Sunday – here are five designers I loved.
So I was pottering about on Pinterest the other day, when I stumbled across an illustration stocked by Ohh Deer.
They’re an indie design collective whose members live all around the world and include artists you might already love, like Gemma Correll.
An hour or so later, both my wallet and my mood were lighter. Is your willpower stronger than mine?
*trumpets* Ta-da!
The new Tatty Devine collection is out! And my goodness, they have some treats for us this season.
It’s out! The new autumn/winter Liberty fabrics collection is here – and it’s got some real treats!
Titled “The Silk Road”, it celebrates the journey from east to west that Liberty’s original cotton lawns would have made in Arthur Liberty’s suitcases.
It’s one of Liberty’s more edgy collections (I love that they’re doing this – releasing separate design-led and traditional collections) and features bold prints, geometrics, bright paisleys, exotic florals and – this is exciting – some rather fabulous tiger prints.
