In the garden, the plants are still putting on a show – albeit more subdued – despite the cold.

Yesterday was a perfect autumn day – cold, sunny and crisp. Time for a walk by the river with Pippa.

At home, I thought the roses would be over – but no. Though this one’s yellower in the summertime.

Even the climbing rose is still in flower.

Such a pretty pink

They’ve worked so hard to reach the last of the light, so I left them to live on in the garden. I can admire them from the kitchen window.

Instead, I chose some ivy berries, rosehips and rosemary, and a stray, hidden anemone, too close to the ground to be seen from inside.

They go nicely with the ornamental cabbage in the kitchen, a present from little friends.
